The story features superheroes from different eras and realities of the Marvel Universe as they fight against the time-travelling villain Kang the Conqueror. Comic book writer Kurt Busiek co-wrote a lot of the storyline here, and it really shows: this is a Lego game by fans, for fans, and the love for characters such as Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, Black Panther and countless others shines through.

But maybe we can make the pre-Star Wars games work on this wiki? Maybe the songs from LEGO Rock Band could have pages? Maybe the portable versions can be covered in some way? We should discuss how we should handle these other games.Another fun game that alternates between action gameplay and puzzle sequences, Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 offers a lot of variety, a ton of personality, and a bucketload of joy for fans of the MCU.

So when some LEGO games are featured here and others aren't, isn't that favoritism? As far as I could tell, The LEGO Ninjago Movie does fit the LEGO formula, but we don't cover it that much because I never played it. Especially when a lot of the LEGO games we couldn't cover do have some of the recurring elements such as studs. Every LEGO game has something unique about them and that does blur the LEGO formula.
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 has made its Character Selection Grid out of full-body cards instead of the usual tokens of the characters' face. LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens has completely changed the HUD. LEGO Dimensions uses the Toys-to-Life gimmick of Skylanders and Disney Infinity instead of unlocking characters. And the original Wii U version doesn't have Co-Op. We just switch Chase McCain's disguise slots with a character of that occupation.

LEGO City is the first original LEGO IP we covered and it also omits Free Play in levels. LEGO Lord of the Rings changed the frame around the player portraits. LEGO Batman 2 brought voice acting to the series. And a spell wheel attached to your character's portrait that is animated on certain consoles. LEGO Harry Potter had story stuff happening between levels including spell lessons that you cannot replay. Free Play was omitted from that game and the only collectable in the levels are studs to fill the True Adventurer stud bar.
However with all these LEGO games adding new features, what is the LEGO formula? LEGO Indiana Jones 2 introduced the kind of open world hub with the path to the next level and a puzzle to proceed instead of the "Continue Story" option at the end of the level or level doors conveniently next to each other or selecting a number on a map. It just didn't fit the LEGO formula enough to be covered here. When I played it, I was so disappointed in the way it was purely open world with no levels.

However, as we eagerly await LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga there is still the question of will it follow the LEGO formula? While you would guess it will because it's LEGO Star Wars, the series that started this wiki, there has been a recent a case of a LEGO game not following the LEGO formula despite being a sequel to one that does. because they don't follow the LEGO formula. At the moment, we don't cover the pre-LEGO Star Wars games or Bionicle Heroes, LEGO Worlds, LEGO Rock Band, etc. And it kept expanding with more games coming out from LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues, LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4, LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars, LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game, LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7, LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, LEGO The Lord of the Rings, LEGO City Undercover, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, The LEGO Movie Videogame, LEGO The Hobbit, LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, LEGO Jurassic World, LEGO Dimensions, LEGO Jurassic World, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2, LEGO The Incredibles and LEGO DC Super-Villains. When this wiki started out, there were only five games it covered: LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game, LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy, LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga, LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures and LEGO Batman: The Videogame specifically for the LEGO formula they shared.
